Bertie’s sister Ivy always said her brother was born on the coastal steamer on the way to the north coast, but his birth was registered at Murwillumbah.

L H Rolph married Bertie and Mary at the Methodist Church in Lismore, NSW on the 26 March 1930. According to the Uniting Church Archives, Bertie was born at Nashua, and was still residing his at the time of his marriage, aged 31. Bertie’s occupation was farmer, and his father was a retired farmer. His bride Mary was aged 22 and was the daughter of Mary BUTLER, she resided at McLean’s Ridges.
