Bruce Herbert Anderson and Jessie Gertrude Ellem were married on the 6th September 1933 at Nana Glen in NSW. Jessie was the daughter of Andrew George Ellem and Martha Maude Cowling. Bruce was a farmer and Jessie was a doctor’s receptionist. They were to have only one daughter, who was to later die of meningitis at the age of eight in Coffs Harbour. Elva Gertrude ANDERSON ( was born on the 31st August 1935 and later passed away on the 15th October 1943. Bruce had passed away before his daughter had reached her first birthday of stomach cancer and Jessie now lives alone at her home in Coffs Harbour.


OBITUARY: Mr Bruce Anderson. Mr Bruce Anderson died in Coffs District Hospital early this morning, aged 36 years. He was the son of Mrs S A Anderson, of Coffs Harbour. His father died here about four years ago.

Deceased was born at Berry, on the South Coast, but came to this district with his parents as a child. He has lived at Coffs Harbour, Bonville, Nana Glen and for the last 12 months at Upper Orara. For twelve months or more he has been troubled with an ulcerated stomach, which was the ultimate cause of death. For a few months he was a patient in the District Hospital, was well enough to be discharged, but had to return a few weeks later and was there about a fortnight before his death.

Brothers of the deceased are Messrs Walter (Glenreagh), Joseph (Bonville), Charles (Boambee), Frank (Sawtell), Don (Sawtell), Richard (Sawtell), Samuel (Cowra), and Archie (Dorrigo). Mrs V E Allen (Coffs Harbour), Mrs F Paul (Coffs Harbour) and Mrs Les Cooper (Valery) are sisters.

The funeral is at the Church of England portion of the Coffs Harbour Cemetery tomorrow.
